Litter Pick Hub
Friends of Sandy Lane Park have taken up the fantastic offer of becoming a litter pick hub. This means that people can scan the QR code on the yellow wheelie bin, which is located behind our container shed, and they will find all the equipment inside to do a litter pick.
Friends of Sandy Lane Park Chat Bench
We are delighted that Severn Trent donated funds to purchase a chat bench for us to place near the sailing club, in the perfect gap where, many years ago, there had been a bench.
The idea of a chat bench is that if you sit there, you are open to conversation and happy to connect with others. It’s about trying to combat loneliness and encourage social interaction.
Friends of Sandy Lane Park Join the Campaign for a Cleaner River Dee
The Sixth River Dee Summit was recently held at Chester Zoo, bringing together campaigners, environmental experts, and community leaders, all united in the effort to clean up the River Dee and Dee Estuary. The summit, convened by Samantha Dixon MP, focused on the vital next step in this campaign – securing bathing water status for the River Dee.
How it all began…
The idea of a friends of Sandy Lane Park group has been around for a while and over the years people have talked about it, even set up a Facebook page but nothing much happened. Until now….
Let’s make Sandy Lane Park beautiful again
23 volunteers worked at our launch event to clear the steps and pathways. It was a fantastic atmosphere and so many delighted passers-by were pleased to see the park being given some much-needed attention.
