Litter Pick Hub

Friends of Sandy Lane Park have taken up the fantastic offer of becoming a litter pick hub. This means that people can scan the QR code on the yellow wheelie bin, which is located behind our container shed, and they will find all the equipment inside to do a litter pick.

The park is very well used, particularly in the summer and on sunny days. On the whole, people do throw their litter in the bins, but occasionally litter is left behind, which really detracts from the park and can be a danger to its users. A lot of rubbish is also washed up, unfortunately, particularly after heavy rain and high tides.

It would be great if people regularly use the hub to help keep the park tidy. Having all the equipment available means that at our monthly volunteer meetings we can easily and safely do a litter pick.

What is a Litter Pick Hub?

Whether you’re a solo litter picker or a group organiser, a litter pick hub is a local centre where individuals and groups can borrow equipment to clean their community at their own convenience.

Steps to get involved in the project include the following:

  • Find Your Nearest Hub: Locate your nearest litter pick hub on our interactive map.

  • Borrow Equipment: Take the tools you need for your cleanup.

  • Pick: Collect as much litter in your chosen area as you like — every little helps.

  • Return Equipment: Bring back any equipment you’ve used so others can do their part too.

  • Report Back: Share your litter pick results on social media to fly the flag for cleaner communities!
